India is transforming the roadway networks across its length and breadth. The strategic planning and growth of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India is phenomenal, to say the least. The expressways in India are going through impressive changes and modifications. Let’s look at the ongoing and recently completed expressway projects in India: -

Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

One of the most talked about new highway projects in India aims to connect the National Capital Region (Delhi NCR) with the Maximum City. Currently, a part of the 1386 km-long expressway is open to the public, covering the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot (Rajasthan) stretch. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will cover 6 states, namely, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The estimated day of this massive route is set to be fully functional by 2025.

Dwarka Expressway

India’s very own elevated highway, the Dwarka Expressway (NH 248-BB) is the first of its kind. The project began in 2019 to make the lives of daily commuters in Delhi NCR a lot easier! Officially known as the Northern Peripheral Road, this expressway spans 29 km, connecting Dwarka to Kherki Daula Toll Plaza, Gurugram. While the construction in parts of Dwarka is ongoing, the Haryana stretch was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in March 2024. Godrej Meridien is one of the top real estate projects on the expressway.

Bangalore-Chennai Expressway

National Expressway 7 (NE-7) is a four-lane greenfield expressway set to connect South India’s most populated cities of Bangalore and Chennai. The Bangalore-Chennai Expressway aims to reduce commute time between these cities from 6 to 2.15 hours, respectively. With a vision to complete the 262 km-long by December 2024, Nitin Gadkari (Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways) plans to have 3 rest areas, 3 interchanges, 2 truck laybys, 3 rail overbridges, and 34 major and 31 minor bridges.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

Boasting eco-friendly construction practices, a National Highway (NH 72A) traversing 210 km is the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. Owing to the preservation of Rajaji National Park’s ecosystem in Dehradun, special eco-sensitive zones are being developed on this expressway. With a 3-phase construction, tenders of several parts of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway are invited.

Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway

An 8-lane controlled-access highway, the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, will stretch 670 km, connecting Delhi (Bahadurgarh) and Katra (Jammu) via Haryana and Punjab. The mission of this expressway is to shorten the travel time between multiple cities, increase regional trade and religious tourism and reduce the load on the Grand Trunk Road.

Mumbai Trans Harbour Link

Mumbai and its satellite city, Navi Mumbai, are now well-connected via the longest sea bridge in India, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL). The connectivity of places like Panvel, Sewri, Navi Mumbai, and Chembur will improve real estate infrastructure in Mumbai exponentially due to MTHL (official name, Atal Setu Nhava Sheva Sea Link). The Highlands at Godrej City is one of the top real estate projects on the expressway.

The Final Word

Owing to the rapid transformation of road infrastructure in India, Godrej Properties is positioning some of the most luxurious residential apartments along these emerging corridors. This will allow homebuyers and investors to have unparalleled connectivity and ultra-modern amenities. As we progress through 2024, let us look forward to these highways epitomising growth and progress in our country.
